Who we are

Aura Counselling Partners, Scunthorpe, run by Annabelle Akdemir and Alisha Lewis. We are the people responsible for your information.

What we collect

• Your name, contact details and date of birth.
• Your appointment details and payments.
• What you choose to tell us on the intake form.
• Brief notes your counsellor makes about sessions.
• An emergency contact, if you give one.

Why we use it

• To arrange and provide your counselling.
• To take payment and keep records.
• To keep you safe if we are seriously worried about you.
• To meet legal and professional duties.

We rely on your consent and on our need to provide the service you asked for. Information about your health is special category data, and we only use it with your explicit consent.

Who sees it

Only your counsellor, and Aura's other counsellor where needed to cover your sessions. We talk about client work in supervision without identifying you. We do not sell or share your information for marketing.

We may share information without your permission only if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or the law requires it. Where possible, we will talk to you first.

Where it is kept

Securely, using trusted services such as our email, booking and form tools on Wix. Some records are also kept on paper in a locked safe.

How long we keep it

We keep your records for 5 years. After that, we delete or securely destroy it.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, ask us to limit how we use it, or withdraw consent. Contact us using the details above. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
